Tollywood Troll Rating : 3/5
Ram Charan Teja's much-awaited film Yevadu was to release on July 31, 2013, but has been delayed for long time due to the controversy over the Telangana Separation. After five months' long wait after Censorship, the movie has finally seen day light. It is a routine revenge drama, but the nice blend of all commercial ingredients makes it a perfect Sankranthi treat for Mega fans.
Yevadu is a romantic action entertainer, which has all the masala elements to woo the mass audience. Ram Charan Teja's energetic performance is the main highlight in the film. Vamsi Paidipally's racy narration, Devi Sri Prasad's music and background score, Shyam K Naidu's beautiful picturisation, well-choreographed stunts and dance scenes, Brahmanandam and Kota Srinivas' comedy and exotic locations are other attractions in the movie.
Satya (Allu Arjun) falls in love with Deepthi (Kajal Aggarwal). Meanwhile, a don named Dheru Bhai (Rahul Dev) is madly after her. Dheru kills Deepthi by setting fire to the bus in which she is travelling. Allu Arjun escapes the accident, but his face is completely burnt. During the plastic surgery, his face is changed to look alike College going guy Charan (Ram Charan). What happens next should be watched on screen.
The movie has a tried and tested story, which seems to be inspired by Hollywood movie Face off starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage in leads. Having done several changes to suit the taste of the local audience, the director has beautifully handled the subject, which makes Yevadu an interesting watch. He has nicely blended a few interesting twist with fare amount of commercial elements.
The film opens with the love story of Satya and Deepti (Allu Arjun and Kajal Aggarwal) and after 15 minutes it heads to introduce hero Vishwa (Ram Charan Teja). The narration in the first half is engrossing with a couple songs and Brahmi's comedy helps the director to maintain the pace, which picks up the speed after the item song. The twist at the interval bang is good. The second half is even more entertaining. The climax is also good.
Ram Charan Teja has delivered wonderful performance in Yevadu. His action scenes have been choreographed very well. His dance in freedom songs is sure to rock the viewers. Shruti Hassan and Amy Jackson, who have played the female lead in the film, have no scope for performance, but they impress viewers with their glamour.
Allu Arjun impresses you in emotional fight scenes in a bus and Kajal Agarwal looks cute as Deepti. Brahmanandam tries his best to tickle your funny bones, but at times, his routine comedy seems to be boring. Kota Srinivas Rao's comedy is also good. Sai Kumar, Subbaraju, Ajay, Murali Sharma, Rahul Dev, Jayasudha and other have also done justice to their roles.
The production values of Yevadu are excellent and Devi Sri Prasad's music is the main plus point in the technical front. A few of his songs are good to listen. His background score is the big asset of the movie. Shyam's cinematography is excellent especially in songs and action sequences. Vamsi has penned hilarious dialogues and "Mem Rowdylam. Ration cards, AadhMem Rowdylam. Ration cards, Aadhar cards undavu" is one best example for it. Other technical departments have also done a commendable job.
Overall, Yevadu is a good action entertainer with all commercial ingredients. Ram Charan Teja is the showman in the film. Engrossing screenplay and rich production values are the big assets of the movie. If you are looking for entertainment without any message, it is good treat for you this Sankrathi
